FIU: THE PLACE I FOUND YOU

Thank You.

Born and raised in Miami, it seemed like a simple path -- High School to FIU. However, I was able to pursue college baseball out of state for a year, and moved to North Carolina, far from the world of beautiful beaches and warm cafecitos. Alas, home was calling my name and I said goodbye to a 16-year long baseball career, and packed my bags for a degree at FIU.

Throughout my 2 years at FIU, I changed majors 5 times, changed certificates 3 times, changed career paths 10 times, changed rooms 3 times, changed colleges 2 times -- but most importantly -- changed my life forever. The moment I walked onto campus, I promised myself 2 things: 1) Never say "No" to a Campus Involvement & 2) Take people along the way to show them what FIU has to offer and help them grow into who they strive to be. Looking back on my 730 days as an FIU student, I can proudly say that I have given my all to the university that has given me everything I have today.

From each and every speaker series on Global Perspective, to attending my first International Student Exchange seminar for Global Engagement, to the alumni that provided my global internship for Global Awareness -- FIU truly has shown me what it is like to be worlds ahead. I am beyond grateful that the Global Medallion Program walked me through this self-development process. Throughout the Global Medallion Program I was able to find my passion and purpose on this Earth, to lead an innovative disruption in the world to provide affordable and eco-friendly housing for all. Due to the lessons I've learned, values I've adopted, and mindset I've developed through the Global Medallion Program, I am certain that one day I can lead the path to making global borders more obsolete and connecting the world to each other in every aspect of life. As I wake up every day, I can look at my reflection and say "I found you" -- leading the world to a greater good.
